The early description of Palia Kalan in history is for surryan farm owned by Sir Iqbal Singh. which had an airstrip also during 1947-1960 to land his own small planes. Before independence, the British people used to come to this place for hunting wild animals, mostly to hunt tigers. This area was under Khairigarh state now it is known as Singahi which is 47 km from Palia Kalan.
Geography of Palia Kalan
Palia Kalan is the north most Tehsil of Lakhimpur Kheri district. It is situated on the linked route of Kheri and Dhangadhi. Palia Kalan shares its boundaries with Pilibhit district in the west, with Nighasan Kheri eastward and with Gola-Gokarannath Kheri in southward. In the north its boundary joints with Nepal.
At least four rivers flow from or near the town and Sharda River separates the Palia Kalan range by Bhira Kheri. Shuheli Majar is also popular in the town on the bank of Shuheli river. Muhana river also passes through the town.
